Paint & Cabinets

Took another jaunt to the house project during lunch to snap some photos of the progress. I was met with quite the surprise because I didn't expect to see so much going on.

First, they put up some trim around the windows and roof on the exterior. They haven't painted them yet, but the trim is there.

As I walked into the garage, I noticed right away that they painted. I could smell the fresh paint. It looked great. That was exciting because it's been about a week since they textured the walls in preparation for the paint.

In the kitchen was the crew installing cabinets. Exciting stuff, I tell ya. They also had all the doors painted and drying in the middle of the room. They have also done most of the tile work, the master bathroom is yet to be complete, but it looks great.

They hope to have it done by the 18th. I can't wait...

Insulation & Drywall

I drove out during lunch to see what they did the last two days hoping to see some drywall up since they said drywall would be put in on Monday. I went to see they had completed all the insulation for the house. There was also drywall and sheet rock delivered to the home. This was exciting to see!

It's coming together and is almost a real house. I can't wait for it to be done.

Framing Pictures

Here are a few photos I took inside.

We insulated the garage last weekend. Hopefully, this will help keep out some of the heat during the summer and some of it in during the winter.

And a couple from inside:

Coming Along Fast

Yes, it's been awhile since I posted. Work has been really busy and I've been out of town quite a bit. This has made the time go by quick for my house. I left for work with a foundation poured and when I returned, I had a framed house. It's going up fast which is quite exciting.

I have been busy trying to get some of my own speaker wire installed for a future home theatre system that I might put in later. Nothing like preparing for the future! It's been fun though. I didn't realize working on my own house would be so much fun.

I have until this weekend to get everything wired up before they start the dry wall. I should be done by then. Until then, here are a few pictures of the house. I will hopefully add more photos as things progress.

About Daybreak

Daybreak is a new community within South Jordan. It's a huge community development project that looks promising at creating a comfy area for families. It currently has community parks, a recreation center, an elementary school, and a lake. There are tons of trails to walk on and eventually it will have a dog park... not that I need one, not a huge fan of dogs as a pet for me. They provide boats that you can take out on Oqurrh lake and fishing there as well.

They have a splash pool for kids but they are currently building a pool too. They have tennis courts, basketball courts, and plenty of parks to BBQ with your mates.

They are building a a shopping center and a business complex as well. Eventually TRAX will have a line out to the community that will take you all the way to downtown SLC.

It looked like a very family oriented community and with it growing so fast, I thought it would be a great time to get in it. If you're curious, you can see more information at www.daybreakliving.com

Model Photos

I paid another visit to the model home to take some photos to post since I knew everyone would want to see what I purchased. I've posted them here on another website if you'd like to see them. Of course, it comes unfurnished, but I hope to make mine look at least as good as this. Maybe with the help of some friends and family *wink wink*, then I can decorate it better.

Finally!

I made a huge decision this weekend. I decided to purchase a home. I have been looking for a townhome for about a year and a half now. I mostly kept myself to townhomes because it fit my lifestyle as well as my budget. I didn't think I would be able to find something that would fit my budget and be a single family home. So, I heard of the opening of a new area in Daybreak and decided to check it out.

I walked in and found that this single family home had everything I was looking for; a large tub in the master bath, an open living room that flowed into the kitchen, and a huge room in the basement I could use as a studio to name a few. I didn't wait long before talking with the sales rep and handing him a deposit. That was tough to do and I've been sick with nervousness ever since.

It's an Ivory Home located in a new community called Daybreak in South Jordan, Utah. The floorplan is called Alden European. I liked the sloped roof and the vaulted ceilings on the main floor. I think this will be enough room for me with plenty of room to finish myself in the basement.

This is certainly the most expensive thing I have purchased, I just hope all goes well and I don't experience anything that has happened in the housing industry this past year.

So, continue on this journey with me. I wanted to create a place I could record the events that will happen over the next six months or so. Hopefully, you can stay updated as well.
